We paused holiday lets in 2023 while we moved home from Edinburgh to Galloway, and reroofed the Pink House.

We’re delighted now to have re-opened for bookings, using our new managed service.

We’ll be open for visitors from Easter time.    The smart new flooring in the kitchen and dining room is looking good!

We’d a week at 45 to round off the amazing Scottish summer of 2021.  As well as our usual walk around Carlingwark Loch, we enjoyed a very good circular cycle ride on country roads: 45 to Palnackie, Dalbeattie, Crocketford, Kirkpatrick Durham and home.  About 28 miles.   We were impressed with the range of stalls at the Farmers’ and Producers’ Market on its monthly visit to Kirkcudbright.  Now tucking up for the autumn and winter: contact us to check availability before trying to book.

Great walk at Cardoness, lunch at Gather, Laggan, walks at the Big Water of Fleet viaduct and Castramon Wood.   Enjoyed a cycle to and from Kirkcudbright on back roads.    Good to be at Designs, King Street and Ernespie Farmhouse Kitchen, Old Military Road.    45 is all ready to welcome you!

We are allowed to travel again and self catering accommodation may open from 26 April so we are looking forward to a few days in 45 next week ahead of reopening for guests from Saturday 8 May.  I wonder where we’ll explore while there!

Leisurely day at Barstobrick, Ringford seeing the horses at work in the indoor arena, walking the ridge and enjoying soup and coffee.  Dined twice at Mr Pook’s Kitchen, 5 minutes on foot from the house -very good!

Fabulous early morning walk round Carlingwark – bird song in the wood, daffodils at Kelton, sunshine and daffs by the loch!

Three days on a spring refresh – up ladders, removed moss from the front of the house, re-treated the window frames, got paint mixed, spot painted the front. Visit Scotland visited for the quality assurance – enthusiastic confirmation of our 3 stars. Inspired by our painting, wrote a poem!
